Denise A. Guerin, Ph.D., FIDEC, FASID, IIDA, is a Morse-Alumni Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota and principal of Martin & Guerin Design Research, LLC. Her research focuses on post-occupancy evaluation in sustainable buildings and implementation of evidence-based design in practice. Guerin is co-creator of InformeDesign® and principal of InformeDesign, LLC. She has served as President of both IDEC and the IDEC Foundation, on several task forces for NCIDQ, and as editor of the Journal of Interior Design. Guerin has co-authored three body of knowledge studies for the profession and has co-edited (with Martin) The State of the Interior Design Profession, and numerous journal articles. She was named the University of Minnesota’s Ada Comstock Woman Scholar in 2013. Guerin is a recipient of IIDA’s Michael Tatum Excellence in Education Award, NCIDQ’s Louis Tregre Award, ASID’s Distinguished Educator, and ARIDO’s award for Educational Leadership.

Working with the clients; understanding what their needs are and building their trust in me.
What do you do that helps you feel balanced in your life?
Create artwork, travel for fun, involve myself with my family and friends.

Who is your hero?
I have three…my children who have all dealt with life-altering situations with grace, confidence, and love.

The Pirate and the Pagen Princess (guess I should add reading trashy novels to balance question!).
